I cannot rate this product highly enough. Cloud banks looks exactly as they should and stay that way when approaching or flying away from them. The cloud formation is remarkable - with varying cloud sizes and structure - as in the real world.
Passing through clouds is incredible - with visibility dynamically changing. Performance is better than ever and the cloud draw distance seems infinite! Together with ASCA (Cloud Art), the dynamic weather and cloud depiction is phenomenal. This is, in my opinion and without doubt, the best weather engine for flight simulation. Start up your sim, set the winds to max, and test your piloting ability like you’ve never been able to before. With hotfix 3 already released, you’re not only paying for a quality add-on, but also long-term support, which will only make an already great product, even better. You absolutely need to buy both products to achieve the vision HiFi set out for this weather engine. In the 2 years since it was released, it’s amazing to see how they’ve supported ASN, but also developed Active Sky 16 and Cloud Art at the same time. Everything from the presentation, the performance and the weather engine itself have all been vastly improved upon since Active Sky Next was released. You can use any graphics add-on(s) with AS16, but dynamic texture reloads require the AS16+ASCA combination. This enables realistic weather-influenced texture variation that reloads throughout your flight without needing to shut down and restart your simulator. ASCA includes cloud textures, sky textures, and brand new 3D cloud models to transform your skies, while also debuting a ground-breaking new feature when used in combination with AS16: Real-Time Dynamic Cloud and Sky Textures!
